Summary

Record photographs of architectural drawings (mostly measured drawings and plans), paintings, drawings, and sculpture (including sculptural "sketches" in clay) created by ca. 250 Fellows and Visiting Students at the American Academy in Rome. Includes portraits and works created by them as part of collaborative problems that they asked to solve in annual competitions. Predominant subjects are structures and views in Rome. In addition, photographs of the opening of the Academy Gallery and of annual exhibitions (1920-59, with gaps); visiting dignitaries (including King Victor Emanuel III); interior and exterior views; and photos of copies drawn and painted by the Fellows and Visiting Students as part of their Academy experience. Some photos of the artists in their studios and at work.
