Trips
Scope and Contents
These records, arranged chronologically, concern President Chatfield-Taylor's business travel from 1988 to 2013. The majority are trips she made to Rome to attend annual Board of Trustees' meetings, to join the Trustees on guided tours elsewhere in Italy or the Mediterranean following Board meetings, or to conduct other Academy business. Domestic trips were largely related to fund raising, whether at events hosted by Board members or major donors, or meetings with staff at private foundations, or meetings with prospective individual donors. Finally, President Chatfield-Taylor also traveled to give invitational lectures on historic preservation and the Academy. Although travel logistics and meeting arrangements are common topics of the correspondence, records of travel to attend Board of Trustees' meetings or staff meetings at the Academy in Rome may include substantive materials related to the purposes of the visits.
