[Gerasa, the fountain court (Jerash, Jordan)], 1930-1939
The collection consists of photographs of various sites, all produced by A. Henry Detweiler during his trips in Italy, Greece, Asia Minor and the Middle East. The photographs document the ancient architecture, landscape and archaeological surveying of these areas. Some of the images represent people and everyday life in the visited countries.
[Palazzo Doria Pamphili or Villa del Principe (Genoa, Italy). Fountain of Neptune], 1935-1942
[Rome (Italy), Rione Trastevere, aerial view of Fontana dell'Acqua Paola and Via Garibaldi. Oblique view, S.W.], 1977-05-30
The goal was to provide high quality images of Rome, as few were available at the time. Of the thousands of photographs that Aronson and Millon took during the two flights, only 300 of the clearest images were selected for the publication of the Portfolio. Aronson published the Portfolio in 1979 through his company, Aerpicfoto, which at the time was located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
